XM and Sirius are trying to merge, but running into anticompetitive claims. Personally, I don't drive that much, and when I do I listen to music on an iPod or MP3 CD. I rarely listen to the radio, unless I'm trying to pick up local coverage of a baseball or football game while on a long trip. If I could get satellite radio for $10 a month that would give me every NFL, every MLB game, and Jam On, I would be sold. Until then, I will stick to their competitors, the iPod and FM radio.

I haven't be putting my picks online for a few weeks. I haven't been all that interested in the games since the Ravens got knocked out. But we're almost 3 hours from kickoff of the SuperBowl, and I've got to put a pick in. I'm going with the Bears, and in fact, I'm not even taking the points. I'll take the money line, which is close to 2-1 right now. My Dad was at the NFC Championship game and told me what he thought the score would be and it sounded good to me:
Bears 27, Colts 20

Last week on Sunday, I went with New York, New York. So I split those games and ended up 1-3 on the weekend. I'm feeling more confident about my picks for this weekend:
BALTIMORE -3.5 over Indianapolis
Much as been made about the old Baltimore Colts returning to face the new Balitmore Ravens. The Ravens have had a week off to get ready, and I think their defense wins this game.
NEW ORLEANS -5 over Philadelphia
The Jeff Garcia magical mystery tour ends this week.
CHICAGO -9 over Seattle
The monster of the midway will shut down Seattle, so it doesn't matter what Rex does.
New England +5 over SAN DIEGO
You just can't take Marty Schottenheimer over Bill Belichick in the playoffs.

I've never liked Cris Collinsworth. As I'm listening to him announce the Cheifs-Colts game, with 12:30 left in the 3rd, he seems baffled as to why the Cheifs don't pull Trent Green. By my count, he is 2-7, with 4 drops by KC receivers. Also, LJ has only 19 yards on 8 carries. How is this Trent Green's fault? I've always thought he is a moron, so I thought I would point this out as an example of why.

Going into last week's game against Cincinnati, it looked like the Ravens had a lock on the AFC North. Now, I'm not so sure of that. Here's the Ravens remaining schedule:
Sun 12/10 at Kansas City 1:00 pm
Sun 12/17 Cleveland 1:00 pm
Sun 12/24 at Pittsburgh 1:00 pm
Sun 12/31 Buffalo 1:00 pm
Let's assume that the Ravens are going to win both of those home games against Cleveland and Buffalo. So that means that the road games against Kansas City and Pittsburgh are going to make or break the season for the Ravens. Don't believe me?
Let's say they lose both of those games and finish at 11-5. Cincinnati has this remaining schedule:
Sun 12/10 Oakland 1:00 pm
Mon 12/18 at Indianapolis 8:30 pm
Sun 12/24 at Denver 4:15 pm
Sun 12/31 Pittsburgh 1:00 pm
That's not an easy schedule, but the way they are playing right now, they can beat anybody. If they run the table, they will finish at 11-5 also. We split the 2 games with them, so the next tie breaker is record against common opponents. Cincy is 10-4 and we will be 9-5. So that means the division goes to them. We would most likely then be the 5 seed, which means 3 road games on the road to the superbowl.
How about the other scenario? We win the last 4, finish 13-3. Indy loses to Cincy and Jacksonville, finishes 12-4. San Diego plays Denver and KC at home in the next 2 weeks, then at Seattle. If they lose 2 of those, they finish 12-4. New England has 3 road games remaining at Miami, Jacksonville, and Tennessee, if they lose any of those, they finish 12-4. That gives us home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Let's hope that's how it works out. But it starts this weekend at Arrowhead and I'll be there first hand to see it.
